Eligibility and Suitability – Adult Service

Eligibility

The client/s cannot be involved in ongoing criminal legal proceedings relating to their use of domestic violence/abuse.

Where clients are in private legal proceedings relating to child safeguarding/contact they are also ineligible for the service until the proceedings have ended. We cannot accept self referrals where the client has been involved with CAFCASS in the last 12 months.

We can accept public legal proceedings where social care or other relevant professional is involved. We strongly advice these cases remain open during engagement with our service.

If the client is in pre-proceedings or is likely to be entering proceedings, relating to safeguarding children, we would request an expert risk assessment where possible.

Perpetrators who are have completed another perpetrator programme (e.g. BBR) within the last 6 months are ineligible.

We do not readily make available reports for court purposes. All reports are through Professional hold the risk of that referral only.

Suitability

Consider the following when making a referral:

Does the perpetrator admit to having used at least some violent/abusive behaviour?

Do they demonstrate some motivation to change it?

Are they likely to be able to reliably attend assessments/ a programme?

Are there any other barriers to participation that need to be addressed- drug/alcohol misuse/mental health issues

If you are struggling to make a decision you can book an appointment to speak to our team.  We can advise you in considering whether clients could benefit from a referral to the Jenkins Centre and to explore, referral pathways and eligibility etc.

Our professional drop in sessions are available on Wednesdays.
