WHERE DOES THE SECOND STEP PROGRAMME TAKE PLACE?

At the Jenkins Centre in Leicester, near the City Centre which is easily accessible. Full details will be confirmed at assessment stage. Currently we are delivering our support on-line however expect to resume face-to-face shortly.

HOW MUCH TIME WILL THE PROGRAMME TAKE UP?

For the 24 week programme you will be required to sessions weekly, typically on a Tuesday or a Thursday evening. Each session lasts 2.5 hours. We also offer day sessions, which you can enquire about at the Jenkins Centre.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE PART IN GROUP SESSIONS?

Yes – The Second Step programme is built around group sessions. We can only offer individual sessions where we consider it is not suitable to attend a group work programme.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF SESSIONS I CAN MISS?

Two where there is a valid reason that you are unable to attend. If you miss any more sessions you’ll be removed from the programme.

CAN THE JENKINS CENTRE WRITE ME A COURT LETTER?

No. The Second Step programme is purely to address your relationship with abusive behaviour.

WILL MY PARTNER HAVE ANY INVOLVEMENT IN THE SESSION?

Your partner can be informed about the weekly topic of sessions, but otherwise, this is about you as an individual rather than you as one half of a couple. Partners can receive emotional support from our Partner Support Workers, but not as part of The Second Step programme.

WILL THE PROGRAMME TAKE INTO ACCOUNT MY RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND CULTURAL HERITAGE?

Yes. The Second Step programme is designed to be adapted to people of any background or religion. If you have any specific questions, please give us a call.

WHAT IF ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE?

Where we are not able to meet your language needs then we may be able to support you through an interpreter if this is considered as appropriate.
